Faith Formation

Background Check Requirement:
All volunteer applicants who may have regular contact with children or vulnerable individuals must consent to a Background Check as a condition of ministry or service to the Archdiocese.

Faith Formation Programs

Adult Faith Formation:
Join our ministry to grow in Catholic faith. As a volunteer, you'll be part of the faith formation team, planning and implementing programs for adults. Tasks may include teaching or facilitating programs, working closely with the Director of Religious Education (DRE) and the Pastor.

Assistance for Director of Religious Education:
Help the DRE plan and execute special events for religious education students, such as the All Saints Celebration and Year End Celebration.

Catechist (Teacher) for Ages 3 to 12th Grade:
Prepare lessons using the teacher manual for Sunday classes. Attend meetings and workshops at St. Anna's and work on catechist certification by attending classes and workshops at other locations.

Catechist Aide (Assistant Teacher):
Assist the lead catechist in class every Sunday, and be prepared to take over if necessary. Attend meetings and workshops, working toward certification.

Children's Advent Program:
Coordinate a children's Advent play, plan and attend practices, and present the program on a Sunday in Advent. Assistance is needed in areas such as costumes, scenery, publicity, and food.

Christian Initiation Team (RCIA):
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) team provides education and support to non-Catholics interested in learning about our Catholic faith. Team members may teach an RCIA class, act as part of the support team, or mentor candidates.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC):
Assist the DRE with sacramental preparation and spiritual direction for children and youth (above grade 2) who have not yet received the sacraments.

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) Retreats:
Participate in annual weekend retreats on campus, with separate events for men and women. Future retreats will use the updated "Welcome - There is More to Life" program.

Confirmation Reception:
Coordinate and assist with a reception following the Confirmation Mass. Responsibilities include decorations, cake, punch, organizing the parish to bring food, setting up the room, and managing the event.

Easter Vigil Reception:
Publicize, set up, decorate, and organize a reception in the parish hall following the Easter Vigil, a special event for our new Catholics.

Families of Faith:
An engaging ministry for all families, especially those with young children. The group meets monthly for bible/book study at St. Anna's, beginning with fellowship and a potluck meal. Occasional family-friendly activities include Christmas parties, Braves games, and trips to the zoo. Children and babies are welcome. First Communion Reception:
Coordinate and assist with a reception following the First Holy Communion Mass. Responsibilities include decorations, cake, punch, organizing the parish to bring food, setting up the room, and managing the event.

High School Youth Advisory Board:
Under the direction of the DRE and Youth Ministers, plan and execute events (with the Pastor's approval) to encourage high school youth to grow spiritually, feel a part of St. Anna's community, and have fun.

Middle School Youth Group Team:
Under the direction of the DRE, plan and execute events (with the Pastor's approval) to encourage middle school youth to grow spiritually, feel a part of St. Anna's community, and have fun.

Parish Library Service Team:
St. Anna's has a library open to all ages, offering books, videos, and more. The team is responsible for cataloging book donations and maintaining the library.

Substitute Catechist:
Occasionally step in to teach when catechist/assistant catechist is unavailable. Lesson plans will be provided.

Summer Days Vacation Bible School (VBS) Service Team:
Assist in planning and implementing Summer Days VBS. Choose an area to work on and attend Summer Days (usually five June weekday evenings).
